 From the Editor

The AME Annual Conference was held iin Dallas last month and achieved record attendance. The quality and size continues to increase, indicating a recognition that lean manufacturing land lean enterprise methods are required to remain competitive in our global economy.

On a related note, Superfactory is proud to announce that it will be a sponsor of the 2007 Lean Accounting Summit, as it was with the 2006 Summit. Bottom line: if you are investing in lean, you need to be there.

We are embarking on a major project to significantly increase the depth of our content. Over the next several months you will notice that the topics summaries on the Superfactory website will include much more detail. To accomplish this we are enlisting the help of "Topic Experts." For an example of one of these new topic pages, see our new Lean Supply Chains page. If you are interested in becoming a topic expert, please contact us.

I also encourage you to visit the Evolving Excellence blog.  Our posts have been picked up by several mainstream media outlets including the U.S. News last month.

As always we appreciate your support for our mission to spread manufacturing excellence knowledge. Click here for more information on sponsorships.

Organizations today often face their greatest struggles when converting factual demand signals into pull-based schedules for those customers actively contributing to the growth and success of the business. An effective Lean supply chain strategy must provide the disciplines, methods and tools necessary to segment the customer against growth and value-contributing factors, link trading partners through collaborative planning & forecasting regimens, match supply and demand for the most appropriate use of enterprise-wide capacity and drive the selection & integration of strategic suppliers that offer the skills necessary to augment the entire supply chain for the benefit of the ultimate customer.

MalcolmThe Tragedy of Waste
by Bob Emiliani

As is often the case, great ideas and practices are the result of many people’s thoughts and labors over many years. Things that seem new to us were often known by others long ago.
